Rano Opens Job Fair for People with Disabilities at Untar

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, opened a job fair for people with disabilities at Tarumanegara University, Grogol, West Jakarta, Saturday (6/12).

To ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities

Rano expressed gratitude and appreciation to the committee and collaborators who opened this job fair for people with disabilities. Such collaboration is very important to ensure that Jakarta becomes increasingly inclusive in providing work opportunities for its residents.

"Besides introducing opportunities for disabled job seekers, this also raises public awareness that everyone who works should have access without exception," he concluded.

City Continues to Expand Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Amidst efforts to transform into a Global City, Jakarta still faces employment challenges with an open unemployment rate of 6.05 percent in August 2025.

However, Jakarta's contribution by 16.39 percent to the national economy and a 4.96 percent (year-on-year) economic growth in the third quarter of 2025 indicate a strong and continuously developing city economy foundation.

The progress must be felt equally. Therefore, he is committed to expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities so that they can be empowered, independent, and actively contribute to the city's development.

This commitment aligns with the mandates of Law Number 8/2016 and Bylaw Number 4/2022 on Persons with Disabilities.

"We invite all stakeholders to ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities as an integral part of Jakarta people," he explained.

The same statement also came out from the Event Committee Chair, Bernadette Themas. He emphasized that this job fair is a manifestation of the commitment to create an inclusive and friendly employment space that values diversity of abilities.

"We believe that people with disabilities have great potential to contribute to the workforce. What they need is not pity but opportunities to realize their abilities, develop themselves, and play a role in building the nation's social economy," he asserted.

His party offered 14 companies that opened 100 job vacancies for people with disabilities. In fact, the South Jakarta Regional Job Training Center (PPKD) was also involved in this job fair.

"There are more than 400 job seekers registered," he added.

Besides the recruitment selection, the committee also provides consultation services for work reviews, CVs, workshops, and talk shows with competent speakers in the field of inclusion. Hopefully, this could assist job seekers with disabilities.

South Jakarta PPKD Head, Budi Karlia Setiyanto added, two booths are set up to provide information about job training and to offer training in making various handicrafts at the location.

"We also served as speakers at a macrame workshop and conducted basic sewing training," he stated.
